Tim is our Hamilton Supervisor / Crew Leader & Firefighter. Tim was born and raised in Hamilton Victoria where he grew up listening to the background noise of his father’s radio from his own career in the local fire brigade.
Tim first took interest in the CFA at 11 years old as a junior member where he entered and won competitions getting water for time, hitting targets and teamwork. At 16 years of age Tim became a senior member. As a senior member, he was able to tag along with his dad to sites helping to look after different fire brigades in the area.
The first time Tim caught wind of Rencon Air & Land when he heard, owner and managing director, Nick Reynish was looking for a summer crew based out of Hamilton in 2010. The first position he was looking to fill was with was on the casual crew. Although he did not know much at the time about Rencon he gave it a go – and he is glad he did !
Since then, Tim has also worked with our National Air & Fauna Manager Jo Anderson doing Koala spotting in addition to firefighting and has proved to be a versatile and valuable member of the Rencon Air & Land team.
In a crisis, Tim’s strong points are being a quick thinker and leader to his crew. Being open-minded and adaptable are key characteristics in this line of work, as he has learned over the years. Remaining positive and being approachable are qualities Tim is proud to have and has proven to be extremely helpful in situations requiring fast action.
The most memorable experience of Tim’s over the years was his 18:00hrs call to Kangaroo Island SA, he left the following morning at 03:30hrs to catch a light plane and arrive at the site at 09:00hrs where he and fellow firefighters worked to 23:00hrs that same night. This may sound like a stressful situation to most; however, Tim fondly looks back on the experience, connecting with fellow ground crews he had never met before and doing his part for our clients and community.
We take the time to appreciate Tim for all of his hard work over the years and we look forward to many more !
