Rencon Air Land’s Slip-On Fire Units: Strengthening Fire Response in the Field

Published: February 14, 2025

We take fire preparedness seriously at Rencon. Our fleet includes 15 dedicated slip-on fire units designed to support Fire Industry Brigades (FIB) and forestry operations. These portable firefighting systems are essential for rapid response, particularly in remote and off-road environments where traditional fire trucks may struggle to reach.

What Are Slip-On Units?

Slip-on fire units are mobile firefighting systems mounted onto the back of utility vehicles, trucks, or trailers. These units are built for quick deployment and are an integral part of bushfire suppression, prescribed burns, emergency response, and property protection.

Key Features of Our Slip-On Units

  • Water Tank: Each unit holds 400 liters of water, ready for immediate firefighting action
  • High-Pressure Pump: Ensures effective and forceful water delivery
  • Hose Reel & Nozzles: Offers flexibility and control over water application
  • Foam Capability (Optional): Some units allow for firefighting foam, enhancing suppression effectiveness
  • Durable & Compliant: Built to withstand rugged terrain and meet CFA, weighing approximately 400 kg, these units maintain agility and efficiency for firefighting compliance standards
  • Integrated Radio Systems: Each slip-on unit is allocated to a vehicle based on its radio connection, ensuring clear communication in the field

The Role of Rencon Air Land’s Fire Team

Our dedicated team of about 40 personnel operates these slip-on units across various terrains, providing essential support to forestry industry brigades, CFA and NSW state government operations. In addition to fire suppression, we carry essential equipment such as chainsaws and tools required for forestry and emergency response.

Beyond the equipment, it’s the people behind the machines who make the real difference. Our team is deeply committed to supporting the CFA in Victoria, RFS/FCNSW authorities in NSW and supporting local communities. Firefighting is demanding work, and we prioritize the well-being of our crews, ensuring they have adequate rest and support to perform their roles safely and effectively.

Why Our Slip-On Units Matter

  • Rapid Deployment: Enables fast response to fire threats, minimizing damage.
  • Versatility: Suitable for both aerial and ground-based firefighting operations.
  • Cost-Effective: Provides a strong firefighting capability without the expense of full-size fire trucks.
  • Community-Focused: Enhances our ability to protect infrastructure, natural assets, and local communities.

Rencon Air Land is proud of the work our fire teams do in the field, and we appreciate their dedication in keeping our landscapes and communities safe. These slip-on units, combined with the skill and commitment of our crew, ensure we are always ready to respond when fire threats arise.

Stay tuned for more updates on our operations and the incredible work of our team in the field!
