DJI Brunswick: Australia’s Original DJI Store

Published: June 10, 2025

DJI Brunswick is the very first DJI dealership in Australia and a cornerstone of innovation in drone technology — not just for clients like us, but for industries across the country. We recently spoke with the team at DJI Brunswick to talk about their story, our partnership, and where drone technology is headed next.

A Vision That Started on a Yacht

The story of DJI Brunswick begins not in an office, but on a yacht in Thailand. In 2016, the founder — a long-time Melbourne business owner who had recently retired from his auto parts business— saw a friend flying a Phantom 3 drone. Instantly, he knew this was the future.

By 2017, he had transformed his Brunswick storefront into Australia’s first authorised DJI dealership, blending retail, commercial consultation, and hands-on support. At the time, drones were still new territory for most industries. But his belief in their potential proved right. Today, that Brunswick location functions like the headquarters for DJI stores across Australia.

Serving a Wide Network of Industries

DJI Brunswick works across a broad spectrum of sectors: emergency services, public safety, utilities, land surveying, mining, and more. From power line inspections to search and rescue support, they help clients find the right drone tech for the task — and offer demos and trials to ensure a perfect fit. “Every industry needs something different,” they told us. “The demand for public safety applications is high, but niche projects — like LiDAR scanning in mining — are some of the most exciting to be a part of.”

DJI Brunswick with Rencon

Rencon Air & Land began working with DJI Brunswick in 2022, starting with a simple battery purchase. Since then, our relationship has grown into a creative and collaborative partnership — one where Rencon gets access to new gear, demos, and expert advice. “They’re different from our usual clientele,” the team said.  “Rencon’s projects are dynamic and industry-specific — it keeps things fun.”

Precision in Process and Product

As an authorised DJI retail front, Brunswick’s store is more than a shop — it’s a carefully curated representation of DJI’s global brand. They deal directly with DJI to maintain store standards, and stay ahead of the curve on new releases and tech trends.

Currently, the Mavic 4 has everyone talking — a powerful new drone with cinematic capabilities that is catching attention across industries. But there’s more on the horizon: “There’s something big coming in mid-2025,” they hinted. “We can’t say yet, but it’ll be a game-changer.”

The Future Is Aerial — and AI-Powered

We asked about what excites them most about the future of drones, their answer was simple: AI and automation.

“AI is going to change the way we interpret data. It already is. Thermal drones used to just show heat. Now they can automatically detect and count people in an image. That’s where we’re headed — faster, smarter, more actionable data with less manual input.”

From precision agriculture to disaster response, the role of drones is expanding rapidly. And as technology becomes more accessible, their applications will only continue to grow.

Growing the Vision Across Australia

In 2023, DJI Brunswick’s reach expanded. They launched four new stores — in Bondi, Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne’s south — all with a modern, clean look designed to reflect DJI’s global brand. Still, Brunswick remains the HQ and original flagship, rooted in Melbourne’s eclectic north. “We’ve come a long way from those early days next to an auto shop,” they said. “But that entrepreneurial spirit is still here. That belief in what drones can do — it drives everything.”

Final Thoughts

DJI Brunswick are the drone pioneers of Australia. Their support has helped us at Rencon Air & Land push boundaries in aerial spraying, LiDAR mapping, thermal detection, and multispectral imaging. And like us, they believe in using the best tools to unlock full potential of the land. To learn more or get in touch, visit their website or contact the Brunswick team directly at (03) 9288 7850.
